It is a propitious occasion that the 3rrd edition of the DCE TIMES is being launched on the day coinciding with Professor P.B.Sharma’s birthday. Professor P.B.Sharma, who is not only an eminent professor but also a fountainhead of all the inspirations concerning research and development work at DCE, has sundry reasons to be regaled on his birthday. DCE being lauded as one of the top ten institutes of the country and its breathtaking breakthroughs in the fields of science and technology has only been possible due to able and unfaltering guidance and support of professor P.B.Sharma. Let us all pray in unanimity that he be in the best of spirits for years to come and take a pledge that we will toil hard towards the betterment of our prestigious institution

DCE REDISCOVERED
DCE is the abbreviation for Delhi College of Engineering. Is its use circumscribed only to our college?? What about ‘Dronacharya College of Engineering’ which unabashedly goes about its business of hurling brickbats at our college’s prestigious appellation? I wonder how many ‘Arjuns’ it churns out every year! And whether they practice archery instead of honing their engineering skills! Not to mention they always end up missing the bull’s eye while aiming for a mackerel’s! Just envisage the next Kurukshetra in making in Gurgaon! Would they be anointed as erstwhile ‘Pandavs’ or pan-Indian doughnuts?! Imagine toga clad, bow and arrow - toting knights sashaying on Indian streets and claiming to make and mend mythical software! Let us move onto the next dilation of DCE. DCE flares into Dhanalakshmi College of Engineering. Wow! What a divine name. These engineers are definitely going to be the future engineers of the country with lots of Lakshmi (moolah!) being bestowed upon them by organizations and CEOs alike, functioning as Goddess Lakshmi. I am apprehensive of us DCEites being left in the lurch. Start praying DCEites! It won’t hurt you to offer chants of obsequious flattery to Goddess Lakshmi! Well, one thing’s for sure.
Now people won’t have to travel all the way to Haridwar in order to purge their souls. There’s an easier way out – take admission in Dhanalakshmi College of Engineering! After the double entendre we switch over to Doraha College of Engineering. It is what it’s ‘spokesperson’ had to say – “There is a growing need for skilled and creative teachers in the changing world milieu – to nourish the students, to fire their imagination, to help them grow to their maximum potential. Recognizing the changing role of teachers in the global era and the qualitative improvement in education, the managing committee of Sant Kartar Singh Ji Kamalia Wale Educational Society decided to start Doraha College of Education. In the wake of progressive educational policies been implemented in India and abroad, efficiency, expertise and effectiveness are the key skills to be imparted to the pupil teachers.” Now that is what I refer to as an invoking oration! Check out for ads concerning enrollment! I am amazed and at the same time aghast at how these institutions use DCE’s reputed name to act as a pejorative which hurts our sentiments, our passion, and our pride of being a DCEite! It’s high time our institution got the abridged version of the name patented! In the meantime start reading between the lines for any other encrypted expansion of DCE and do let us know!
DCE Bags Another Award
A major research project entitled characterization of Photonic crystal fibers for telecom and sensing application: Theory and Experiment is awarded to DCE from University Grants Commission (UGC),Govt. of India, under the investigatorship of Prof. R. K. Sinha. The Project is of 3 years duration ( 2009-11), with a total sponsorship of Rs. 10.5 lac.
