DE-BUNK THE SYSTEM
Dear DCEite,
I know you had been studying really hard for the recently concluded mid semester exams and faced a harrowing time due to their unfathomable nature. But what’s the fuss all about? You only had to study on the eve of each exam and I bet the professors won't dither from bestowing upon you a de-cent fifty percent marks! For those of you who and I bet the professors won’t dither from bestowing upon you a de- cent fifty percent marks! For those of you who are wary of the vagaries of that evil professor who is hell-bent on scrutinizing each and every charac- ter you have inscribed on the answer sheet, I can only offer ‘sympathetic pity’.
So after the ‘God-forsaken’ mid semester exams, we are invariably relegated to the habitual grind. Did I say ‘grind’? I thought a DCEite was accustomed to bunking classes! And he used to be an expert at that! Not anymore! Rumor has it that the teachers are turning strict (well above the DCE norms!) and will inflict their wrath on all those truant pupils who go about bunking classes unperturbed. So make sure you latch onto that seventy-five percent attendance notch if you don’t want to end up beseeching your professors for incrementing your oblivious attendance in their classes without incriminating you! So what is the next thing you are going to do after becoming cognizant of this impending danger? No, don’t continue to be an obstinate snob and don’t despise your attendance. Rather takea pledge that you are goingto act as sincere and diligent pupils and will eschewfrombunking.
I am not coaxing you into followingGandhian principles by seekingabstinence from alcoholor other intoxicating stuff that you engineers unabashedlydig into! I am just asking you to attend your classesregularly. And if Gandhijicould lead an austere life, whycan’t you follow an innocuous regulation? I wonderwhetherGandhiji used to bunk…..
