Team VAAYU, a seven member student team lead by student team leader Avnish Phogaat represented DCE and India at SAE Aero Design West competition organized by Lockheed martin and NASA held on March 6-8, 2009 in Los Angeles, California, United States of America. The event turned out to be a successful venture for the team as they were the youngest among the 54 participating teams from around the world and was able to lift 18 pounds in their 6 pound aircraft. The team took just three months to design and construct the aircraft for the competition.

DCE Director, Professor P.B.Sharma and Dean, IRD, Professor R.K.Sinha are the team’s faculty advisors. The objective of the competition was to design and construct a heavy lift cargo airplane so as to carry as much payload as possible while adhering to the technical specifications laid out by SAE. The college assisted the team financially by sanctioning money for the construction of the aircraft. Remaining costs were met out by the official team sponsor YAHOO! The team now intends to participate in this annual event next year as well. The team will also be constructing a totally new airplane for a similar event to be held on October 22-25, 2009 in Sao Paulo, Brazil. The team, inspired by Prof. P.B. Aglasem - a hit with DCE’s Undergrdates

DCE Times brings you the reviews of AGLASEM.com –an initiative of 2nd and 3rd year students.

Aglasem is blessing to DCites .I firmly believe that it should not be limited only to DCE.An interactive platform should be created where students can share notes and assignment. It should be diversified in a way to extend the traffics , limited now only to exam time.

Samrat malik, IT, 3rd year

According to me aglasem is an out of the box idea. It has a very user friendly interface with a lot to explore. The blog also let us to communicate with the Aglasem team. I got motivated to see Aglasem that I have decided to bring out a same kind of site for ME students.

MD Akhtar, Mechanical, ME

Aglasem is a good initiative. It has reduced the fatigue of standing in long queues at the Xerox shops. I think an uploading facility should be provided so that students can exchange the stuff. I extend my wishes to Aglasem team.
